Our Platform
People over politics.
School boards are designed to be non-partisan. Our candidates will not bring personal or political agendas to the board. This is not about Democrats and Republicans. This is about the Etown Bears. We are candidates for ALL!
All students and families deserve access to a quality public education.
All students and families in the EASD should feel welcome and included in our school district. All students should have access to a quality public education that prepares them for a successful and fulfilling future, whether that be college, a trade, a career in agriculture, or the armed services.
Taxpayers deserve school directors who will make fiscally responsible decisions.
Effective school directors should understand the balance that is needed between funding our schools and being mindful of the limits of our taxpayers, especially those taxpayers living on a fixed income. We also recognize that investing in our public schools in an investment in our future. We will make educated and informed decisions that will ensure that our students have what they need to learn, that our teachers have the resources they need to deliver quality instruction, and that the needs of our taxpayers are always part of the process.
Students deserve the freedom to read and the freedom to learn.
Our candidates believe the the strength of our democracy depends on our students' and teachers' ability to learn and teach in an environment that promotes the free exchange of ideas. We do not believe in pushing personal or political agendas, or in banning books. We do not not believe that extremist groups like Moms for Liberty should influence a school board's decisions. We trust our educators as professionals who have extensive training in their areas of expertise. We support every parent's ability to make choices for their own child's education; we do not believe that they should be able to make decisions about the education for the children of others.
Experience matters.
Not only are our candidates qualified to serve as school directors because of their backgrounds and diverse professional experiences (see our bios!), but also they have been consistently attending board meetings, often speaking up to advocate for things like school safety, fiscal responsibility, quality instruction, and support for our teachers . They have been paying attention. The transition to the board will be seamless.
Advocacy is part of the job!
We will continue to work with local representation, including Sen. Ryan Aument, Rep. Tom Jones, and Rep. Lloyd Smucker in an effort to advocate for policies that strengthen our public schools, create opportunities for our students, and make the operation of public schools less reliant on property taxes.
